KAOS develops art projects with artists who may or may not be psychologically vulnerable and has an Artists in residency programme in psychiatry. It brings art and psychiatry together and tells something about the perception of this.

Open call artist in residence KAOS/ UPC KU Leuven

From 2025 KAOS and UPC KU Leuven will jointly organise one annual research residency for individual artists within a psychiatric context. The invited artist will have access to a personal work studio on the premises of UPC KU Leuven. The open call has been launched now.

Open Call residencies KAOS/Yellow Art

Starting this year, KAOS and kunsthuis Yellow Art jointly organize two annual residencies for individual artists within a psychiatric context. These include one research residency and one collaborative residency. Invited artists will have access to a personal workspace in the Jan Hoet House. Additionally, the kunsthuis Yellow Art studio will be open three days a week for use and interaction, with other facilities available on the premises such as the open house 't Vooruitzicht. Please note: There is no accommodation available on site.

‘Vibrant Mind’ @ PSC Elsene

'The Vibrant Mind: Exploring Mental Health Through Artistry' is a pan-European project committed to empowering individuals living with mental health conditions through the expressive power of art. This project creates a platform where artists dealing with diverse mental health conditions can showcase their work across a variety of venues throughout Europe, from traditional galleries to patient organisations and more.

To celebrate the Vibrant Mind’s arrival in Brussels, GAMIAN-Europe in collaboration with KAOS and Psycho-Sociaal Centrum Elsene, and with the guidance of Sven unik-id, will be holding an opening night event with artists and mental health experts from across Europe on the 13th of June between 19:00 and 21:00 CET at PSC Elsene.

Music performance The warmest colour

On Tuesday 26/03/2024 at 19:00, we welcome the duo The warmest colour. A combination of voice and piano that revisits repertoire from different styles: including blues ('St James Infirmary'), jazz ('Summertime', 'Softly as a morning sunrise') and bossa ('Girl from Ipanema'). They also perform their own work with the same eclectic soul. These pieces tell stories, which are both gloomy and inspiring.
