Beethoven - Franco
The Psycho-Social Center (PSC) Ixelles and KAOS are delighted to invite you to a special concert afternoon in the beautiful chapel of the PSC, featuring pianist and music dramaturge Alain Franco.
At the heart of the program are Beethoven’s sonatas — but don’t expect a traditional concert. Beethoven is seen as a pivotal figure between Classicism and Romanticism, between tradition and the avant-garde — yet Franco goes further: he lets a selection of the 32 sonatas resonate alongside works by Boulez, Schoenberg, Bach, and Brahms.
The idea to bring this initiative into the context of the PSC arose from a film excerpt showing Min Tanaka, a Butoh dancer, performing in the well-known psychiatric hospital La Borde — an image that invited further exploration.
The project lasts about three and a half hours, with a break in the middle.
The PSC Ixelles is a place where care and art meet. Vulnerability is not hidden there but acknowledged and transformed into a driving force for artistic expression. In collaboration with KAOS, projects are created where no distinction is made between patient and artist.
Here, art is not decoration, but an essential part of the therapeutic process. PSC Ixelles believes that culture is not a luxury, but a necessity.
