Pauline Augustyn
In collaboration with the Brussels-based organization BNA-BBOT, KAOS is hosting a residency with Pauline Augustyn.
She is an audio creator with a passion for alliteration, storytelling, and sound. A professional eavesdropper, she draws inspiration from scenes of everyday life, painting titles, eccentric newspaper headlines, and conversations with strangers.
After earning a degree in Languages and Literature at Ghent University (UGent), she completed the radio program at RITCS. In 2022, she graduated with the audio documentary Une utopie, un mensonge. In 2023, she won an award for this work at the Third Coast International Audio Festival in Chicago and was nominated for the Prix Europa.
She worked at Radio 1 and, together with Bart Van Nuffelen (Martha!tentatief), created the theatre performance Honderd in 2024. She currently produces podcasts and develops social-artistic audio projects.
In her work, she seeks out themes that question the state of the world through voices that crack and disarm, found sounds, and silences (when they fall).
During her residency, she will explore the notion of silence. Through encounters, conversations, and time, she aims to discover whether the people at the PSC feel a need for silence at all—and, if so, what it should sound like.
